Have you heard of the Flat Stanley Project? I think there are a few ways to participate in this project. You can read more at http://www.flatstanley.comE's class read the story 'Flat Stanley' by Jeff Brown. In the book, Stanley's bulletin board falls on him. When he wakes up, he is flat. Flat Stanley can slip underneath the door, or fly like a kite. He can go anywhere in an envelope, just like a letter. E's class pretended that they had been flattened and made pictures of themselves to look like Flat Stanley. Then they mailed them to a friend or relative to learn about geography as the 'Flat Children' have adventures in far-away cities visiting places in that city and doing fun things.
E chose to send her 'Flat E' to Grandma and Grandpa H in St. Louis. They did a wonderful job with this project. They took the 'Flat E' to many places including First Watch for chocolate chip pancakes, the Arch, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Museum, a playground, the Boat House for lunch, the Magic House, the Butterfly House, the mall for a Carousel ride, a pet store and Grandma's office. Then they put together a great book of all of the pictures and wrote about their adventures with 'Flat E'. E was certainly very happy to receive the finished project and can't wait to share it at school. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for being overachievers. A+
