Goodbye 3rd Grade!

Ok, I'm behind on this one....maybe it's because I'm in denial. When I was a teacher, I only taught up to 3rd grade. 4th grade always seemed like 'the big time'. More homework. Taller kids. Letter grades. Not so elementary. Well, she's going to 4th grade whether I like it or not. She's also turning 9 in a couple of weeks.  Speaking of her birthday, we're getting ready over here for the first slumber party in our household.  We've had sleepovers...but not slumber parties of 7.  I have such great memories of slumber parties at her age and am so excited to see these girls enjoy the festivities.

Here are some pics from her last day party.

Just a little something I want to remember...

Do your kiddos always ask you to take pictures of them with their favorite doll, stuffed animal, toy, etc?  I always get asked and want to remember these little things.

It's Wild Over Here...

This pretty much sums up our summer so far. A couple of weeks ago we had a lot of rain. Emmie decided to produce a play that day about the wild. They had fun and I video taped...or atleast I thought I was recording...but I wasn't. Here are some pics...

Photo shoot

I wanted to quickly add another picture from our little photo shoot the other night.

I don't think I have the matching pic where they are all walking towards me but am feeling pretty (very) lucky to have the picture at the top of my blog....because this is how most of the night went...

Will didn't want to stay still and mama didn't seem to know how to hold the camera still.  Although I must admit I'm in love with these pictures also because they are pretty funny.

I think our family room wall will finally have the portrait it has been waiting for the past 3 years.  :)

Choo-Choo

We made our first trip to Fritz's this past weekend.  Everyone had a great time...especially Will, who was IN LOVE with the choo-choos!  The girls loved ordering the food by phone and receiving the food by train.

Can you guess what he was looking at?  :)

And...soon, very soon, or eventually, I will catch up on all of our recent events.

Goodbye Kindergarten

Katie completed her year of Kindergarten.  I can't believe that she will be in 1st grade next year and not coming home to eat lunch with me.  I am so sad about this but it is time.  I am so glad that she only wanted to go 1/2 day this year as I really wanted her home.  It was a great year of fun mornings at school, lunches at home and playdates with friends.  She did a wonderful job in Kindergarten academically.  Her teacher said she was also a great listener and played very well with friends.  Ok, I can't write anymore about this subject.  :(

On the second to last day of school, they had a portfolio party where they sang a few songs and we watched a slideshow her wonderful teacher put together of the year.  Katie also showed Allie, Will and I her portfolio filled with wonderful work from the year.  On the last day of school, they had their party where they made bags filled with summer fun and then played some fun outdoor games.

Goodbye to Kindergarten and the best Kindergarten teacher ever!  See you in 2 years!  :)

Dance Recital

Wow...I am more behind in this blog than I have ever been.  Allie had her dance recital a couple of weeks ago.  She was so very excited.  Her song to dance to was 'Star Light, Star Bright'.  Grandma and Grandpa H came in to see the recital.  Allie chose Noodles & Co. as the place to go out to dinner beforehand.  She wasn't nervous at all as you might have noticed from the previous pictures I noticed.  She was so excited.  List of things Mom did wrong that night:  put tap shoes on her instead of ballet shoes (luckily the ballet shoes were in the car), leave the lens I needed at home...oh well, atleast we were at the right place and on time.  :)

Well, here she is AFTER the recital!

Could it be?  Will sat still just long enough for me to get him in a picture with the girls.

Peace

This morning I came downstairs to see this....proudly made and hung by our little artist Katie.  I asked her when she made these pictures and she said that she had been working on them during her timeouts upstairs.... ha!  All of the faces are our favorite colors.  :)

and what could be more peaceful than this?  Emmie and Will holding hands while Will was napping.
