Sunshine coming through my windows makes me happy....I get to practice with my new lens.  Yes, I could have edited those chapped lips but she is already looking too old as it is.

No Reminiscing Tonight...Just Laughing!

Today I  heard Katie and Allie coming down the stairs and Katie was saying "Presenting Miss Princess Allie!"  They had been upstairs dressing up, doing hair and putting on lip gloss.  It seems they found Rich's 80's party mullet man wig come in quite handy...and also my 80's Olivia Newton John wig!

First birthday...

Dear Mr. H.P.

I do not regret to inform you that our ol' buddy Dell has come back into our lives.  We will need to let you go.  You were never a good match for us.  I do not know why we left Dell behind in Cleveland and picked you up at that Christmas sale on the way to K.C. 

You began betraying us after only 1 month.  You did not like our peripheral friend Mr. Printer or our USB cable guy.  You froze under pressure, couldn't multi-task and always needed your space.  Your presentations were blurry and you didn't even know you had the ability to read.

Our friends Amy and Stacey have let you go and now we must do so as well.  Dell has forgiven us and we will never abandon him again.

Last Friday night I went to Wal-Mart (which I am NOT a fan of) to buy some Orange Juice and last minute items for Katie's party like a package of forks.  I was so proud of myself whipping through the store...anticipating getting out of there in record time (which I can't seem to do at Target).  Then, I stumbled upon a very large table with a clearance sign and about 8 boxes of computers.  Long story, short....I come home with a new computer (and the OJ and forks)....after a phone call to Rich (and his Dad for computer advice) of course.

My point?  We are waiting on a Windows 7 upgrade disc so there is no reason to load any of my camera and editing software yet...I'm going through withdrawal (a true blogging addict).  Over the past day and a half, I've burned 46 CDs with memories from the past 3 years.  Since I'm in withdrawal,  I'm going to randomly pick a CD from the large stack and pick some oldies but goodies to share tonight.  Ok, I just picked my CD....what do I have to share from March and April of 2007? 

We had only been in KC for about 2 months...here are the girls in our temporary housing...and with new haircuts...

Flip-Flop Fun

Saturday was Katie's birthday party with her friends.  Her party was a pool party at the recreation center.  Originally we had planned on an art party at our house but then we realized that wouldn't be possible when she stated she wanted to invite ALL of the girls from her class so that no one would have their feelings hurt...sweet girl.  So, we called the rec center, scheduled a party on an opening they had 6 days later, made invites (with apologies for the late notice), delivered invites, shopped for party goodies, made flip-flop candies and a cake, bought Katie a new bathing suit, made a flip-flop visor...and headed for the pool.

Rich and I had our hands MORE THAN FULL with 17 little girls and Will at the pool.  First we were in the party room and had cake and opened presents....then we moved on to the pool.  There is a lazy river at the pool and I'm not sure how but those girls went ROUND and ROUND and ROUND that lazy river for an hour and a half.  They had fun!  I wish I had more pictures but I am limited to the few pics I uploaded to PhotoBucket before we unplugged our old PC today and started up our new one....oh yeah....and the pics I took that day were far from great.   (Note to self:  Practice on new lens before taking it to an important event.)

So Katie's birthday celebrations have come to a close.  The funny thing about a birthday close to Christmas is that it actually lasts a few weeks.  A neighbor of mine who also has a Katie with a December 27th birthday agrees...you celebrate on that day with relatives, maybe on another day with other relatives, come home and celebrate as a family at a dinner out and then with friends at a party. Maybe a Christmas-time birthday isn't so bad after all....even Emmie asked after the party as Katie was going through her presents, "Why does Katie have to have a birthday the day after Christmas?" :0
